Baseball Recap: Lakeview Extends Winning Streak to Five

Lakeview entered their tilt with Struthers on Monday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 8-2 win. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Blake Swinning looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Matthew Leonard and Brandon Cash did most of the damage at the plate: Leonard went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Cash went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Leonard a new career-high. Hayden Newton was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Lakeview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Struthers only posted a batting average of .083.

Lakeview's record is now 15-6. As for Struthers, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-13.

Lakeview will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
