The Jack Britt Buccaneers will challenge the Purnell Swett Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jack Britt is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Jack Britt was handed a eight-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Richmond 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Buccaneers have posted since February 26th.
The team relied heavily on Ashanthy Marcano, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Sophie Casagrande was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Purnell Swett never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past Douglas Byrd 16-0. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Braci Woods was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Purnell Swett got a massive performance out of Terra Bullard, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kiersten Strickland, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Jack Britt is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Purnell Swett, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8.
Jack Britt came out on top in a nail-biter against Purnell Swett in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 11-9. Will the Buccaneers repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
