The Malad Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 54-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Aberdeen. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Malad in their matchups with Aberdeen: they've now lost five in a row.
Aberdeen got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Griffin Knittel out in front who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Knittel has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gage Driscoll, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Malad dropped their record down to 3-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Aberdeen, their victory bumped their record up to 3-8.
Malad will be playing in front of their home fans against North Gem at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Idaho (North Gem is ranked 109th, while Malad is ranked 121st). As for Aberdeen, Aberdeen and Soda Springs will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Soda Springs and Aberdeen are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
