The Wantagh Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Glen Cove Big Red at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wantagh will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Wantagh stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They really took it to Bethpage for the full four quarters, racking up a 35-0 win at home. Given Wantagh's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Bethpage is ranked 281st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wantagh relied on the efforts of Jake Martini, who rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and Dylan Martini, who rushed for 171 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
Glen Cove never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Division last Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 48-19 win over the Blue Dragons. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Glen Cove had established a 28 point advantage.
Their wins bumped Wantagh to 8-1 and Glen Cove to 4-4.
Everything came up roses for Wantagh against Glen Cove when the teams last played two weeks ago as the squad secured a 42-0 victory. Does Wantagh have another victory up their sleeve, or will Glen Cove turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
