Liam Driver was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, Riley Summers was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ben Bridich, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Forge Christian hadn't beaten Eaton on the road since June 1, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Fury came out on top against the Reds by a score of 6-1.
Burke Jasa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ben McLean, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Wilde, who went 3-for-4 with three runs.
Forge Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive matches.
Colorado Academy pushed their record up to 14-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Forge Christian, their record is now 14-2.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Colorado Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like Forge Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
