The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mitchell County in their matchups with Pelham: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Mitchell County still got an impressive performance from Kisney Toombs, who scored ten points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Toombs has scored all season.
Mitchell County struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Pelham posted ten assists.
Leading Pelham to victory were Truth Wimberly and Sariyah Chester. Wimberly dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists, while Chester scored 31 points along with three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Chester has scored at least a third of Pelham's points. Jaliyah Crump was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Mitchell County's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-10. As for Pelham, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mitchell County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Seminole County at 6:00 p.m. on January 10th. Seminole County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mitchell County in Georgia (Seminole County is ranked 215th, while Mitchell County is ranked 498th). As for Pelham, they will head out on the road to challenge Mitchell County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Mitchell County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Wednesday.
