The Stern Titans will head out on the road to challenge the Verdugo Hills Dons at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Stern is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road.
Last Friday, Stern kept a clean sheet against Smidt Tech. They came out on top against the Grey Wolves by a score of 2-0. Given Stern's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 159th, while Smidt Tech is ranked 940th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, with a playoff game on the line, Verdugo Hills rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 3-0 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Verdugo Hills has managed all season.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Diego Herrera and
Gerardo Ramirez, who scored all three of Verdugo Hills' goals. The pair have combined for a total of 12 so far this season.
Stern has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season. As for Verdugo Hills, the win got them back to even at 8-8-6.
