The Mandarin Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Bartram Trail 63-28 at home. Given Mandarin's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Bartram Trail is ranked 287th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nykeria Thomas was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. She hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiyana Hunter, who scored 18 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Mandarin and bumps their season record up to 7-2. As for Bartram Trail, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Mandarin will head out on the road to face off against Ridgeview at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Ridgeview is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games. Bartram Trail will be home for the holidays to greet Atlantic Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Atlantic Coast is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
