After a string of 13 wins, the Green Canyon Wolves's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost to Ridgeline at home by a decisive 59-45 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Green Canyon has scored all season.
Green Canyon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaac Filimoehala, who scored five points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Layker Ward, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Jagger Francom continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ridgeline, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. Francom has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Carson Cox, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Green Canyon's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-1. As for Ridgeline, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green Canyon will challenge Mountain Crest at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Kaden Hess and Jared Anderson. As for Ridgeline, they will head out on the road to face off against Bear River at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bear River knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Ridgeline likes a good challenge.
