Softball Recap: Central Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Central can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Anclote Sharks as they made off with a 17-2 victory. Considering the Bears' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jaida Childs made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Childs was even better at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Natalie Atkinson was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Diandra Bayless, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Central's win bumped their record up to 3-16. As for Anclote, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will take on Gulf at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Anclote, they will face off against Hudson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sharks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cobras have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
