Maddy Tingle made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Cascade got a massive performance out of Lexie Gidcumb, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Gidcumb is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Cassidy Crabtree was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Cascade kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 13 consecutive matches.
Sweet Home had taken Philomath down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Huskies lost 9-3 to the Warriors.
Cascade's victory was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Sweet Home, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season.
Everything went Cascade's way against Sweet Home when the teams last played last Wednesday, as Cascade made off with a 12-6 victory. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
