Kokomo has gone a perfect 7-0 against Maconaquah recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wildkats will be playing at home against the Braves at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.
Kokomo blew Peru out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Peru got their revenge. The Wildkats fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 13-11. The Wildkats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Spencer Martin and Kinley Martin stepped up to the plate in a big way. Spencer scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5, while Kinley scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Spencer also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lanaya Buckner, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Maconaquah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-6 heartbreaker at the hands of Tri-Central. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Braves have suffered since May 16, 2024.
Blayklee Buman was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Shaela Brazzel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Haylee Scarlett was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Kokomo's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Maconaquah, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Kokomo skirted past Maconaquah 13-12 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Wildkats repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
