The Big Sandy Wildcats lost against the Splendora Wildcats back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Big Sandy fell to Splendora 47-41. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Big Sandy came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 280th, while Splendora is ranked 799th).
Splendora's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaydn McNeely led the charge by scoring 12 points along with 3 steals and 3 blocks. The match was McNeely's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Kelley, who scored 17 points.
Big Sandy's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Splendora, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-5.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Santa Fe the next time they take the court. Splendora will host Santa Fe at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, while Big Sandy will head out to face them at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
