The Rockingham County Cougars can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top against Leadership Academy by a score of 66-56. The victory was just what Rockingham County needed coming off of a 92-52 loss in their prior match.
It was another big night for Dalton Johnson, who scored 28 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Rockingham County's points. Another player making a difference was Luke Strittmatter, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds.
Rockingham County's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Leadership Academy, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.
Rockingham County will head out on the road to challenge Northeast Guilford at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Leadership Academy, Leadership Academy and Winston-Salem Prep will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Winston-Salem Prep is ranked 578th, while Leadership Academy is ranked 553rd).
