Petrolia is 6-1 against Olney since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Petrolia Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Olney Cubs at 6:00 p.m. Petrolia comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 15 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Petrolia suffered their biggest defeat since November 7, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Windthorst, falling 71-10. While losing is never fun, Petrolia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1002nd, while Windthorst is ranked 281st).
Meanwhile, Olney's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 38-27 to Archer City.
Petrolia's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Olney, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.
Petrolia was able to grind out a solid win over Olney when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 56-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Petrolia since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
