It was a good run, but the Plainfield Quakers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 66-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Decatur Central. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Plainfield's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Collin Schmidt, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Schmidt is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah Smith, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Kc Berry was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with five rebounds for Decatur Central. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Berry has scored all season. Melakih Cunningham was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Plainfield's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Decatur Central, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
Plainfield won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Lebanon is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Decatur Central, they will face off against Southport at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
