Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact the Elite Academy Eagles proved on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 47-45 win over American Heritage. The win made it back-to-back wins for Elite Academy.
Ladainian Brooks was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Kyler Theophile was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Several Stallions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brendan Gerard, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The match was Gerard's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Benji Grayer, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Elite Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for American Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-2.
Elite Academy and Hallandale will face off at 10:00 a.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hallandale has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 272 points over their last four matchups. As for American Heritage, they will be playing at home against Pine Crest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
