After two games on the road, Elmira is heading back home. They will take on the Johnson City Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Elmira had just enough and edged Owego Free Academy out 46-44.
Elmira can attribute much of their success to Ellie Clearwater, who scored 20 points along with 5 steals, and Mariah Matias, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 14 rebounds. Caitlyn Wagner was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 7 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Johnson City didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Chenango Valley on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 40-35 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Johnson City.
The wins kept both teams' perfect 2-0 season records intact.
Elmira came up short against Johnson City when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 70-63. Will Elmira have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
