Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Rebekah Bass and Sara Larios Lead Asheville Christian Academy to Victory

It was a proper cat-fight when Asheville Christian Academy took on High Point Christian Academy on Thursday. The Asheville Christian Academy Lions walked away with a 42-29 win over the High Point Christian Academy Cougars. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 69-36 victory the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Asheville Christian Academy was led to victory by Sara Larios and Rebekah Bass. Larios posted 13 points and four steals, while Bass had ten points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Larios has been hot, having posted four or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ansley Fuchs, who scored seven points and six boards.

Asheville Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as High Point Christian Academy only posted three assists.

High Point Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lauren Robinson, who earned 11 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Landyn Smith, who put up five points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Asheville Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for High Point Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Asheville Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-47 victory against Carolina Day on the 14th. High Point Christian Academy has also already played their next match, a 70-38 loss against Greensboro Day School on the 14th.
