Huntingtown and the are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Huntingtown Hurricanes will head out on the road to challenge St. Charles at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Huntingtown focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
Huntingtown scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They blew past La Plata, posting a 67-21 victory at home. Huntingtown has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Huntingtown found their leader in underclassman Eva Powell, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Powell has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Hoetzlein-sirman, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. Charles earned a 47-40 victory over the Rams on Friday.
Huntingtown pushed their record up to 12-6 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.5 points per game. As for St. Charles, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Huntingtown took a serious blow against the when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 63-27. Thankfully for Huntingtown, Mia Johnson (who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
