Flint Hill is 0-7 against Highland since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Huskies will be playing at home against the Hawks at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Flint Hill 3.8, Highland 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Flint Hill lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Potomac School, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. The Huskies put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 14-5 win on Friday. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
Jackson Speer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits.
At the plate, Flint Hill got a massive performance out of PJ Lyons, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Lyons has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Gratacos, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one run.
Flint Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Potomac School only managed three hits.
Meanwhile, Highland had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Spartans.
Matthew McCauley and Stephen Christopher dominated on the mound. McCauley pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits, while Christopher struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Christopher has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Highland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Hudson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another was Christian Dart, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Flint Hill is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Highland, they pushed their record up to 21-5 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Flint Hill has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Highland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Flint Hill might still be hurting after the 16-6 loss they got from Highland in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Huskies have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
