The All Hallows Gaels pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Fordham Prep at home by a decisive 74-59 margin. While losing is never fun, All Hallows can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 520th, while Fordham Prep is ranked 120th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fordham Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matthew Kapfer, who scored 30 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kapfer has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Jackson, who scored 25 points along with six assists.
All Hallows dropped their record down to 1-5 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Fordham Prep, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-3.
All Hallows will head out on the road to challenge St. Joseph-by-the-Sea at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Joseph-by-the-Sea has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 22. Fordham Prep's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hackley at 12:50 p.m. on January 27th.
