Sickles has gone a perfect 10-0 against Gaither recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Gryphons will square off against the Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Sickles sitting on five straight victories and Gaither on three.
On Tuesday, Sickles got the win against Blake by a conclusive 17-2. The result was nothing new for the Gryphons, who have now won eight matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Charlie Martz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Jaden Nazar was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Gaither's hitters rose to the challenge against a Panthers pitching crew that boasted an average of only 1.9 runs allowed on Monday. The Cowboys walked away with a 10-7 win over Plant.
Jackson Mirza made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Albert Antinori was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Angel Hernandez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Sickles' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Gaither, their record is now 14-7.
Sickles came out on top in a nail-biter against Gaither in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gryphons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
