Deer Valley and Freedom are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2021, but not for long. The Wolverines will be playing at home against the Falcons at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Deer Valley's victory against Antioch wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolverines skirted past the Panthers 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted since September 13th.
Deer Valley was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 20-25, 20-25, 25-20, 15-12.

Deer Valley found their leader in sophomore Hazel Toliao, who had 15 digs and eight aces. Those eight aces set a new season-high mark for Toliao. Calixte Tungol also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Deer Valley was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 26 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Freedom entered their tilt with Emerald on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Aerouants 3-0.
Freedom was especially dominant in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-16, 25-12.
Deer Valley's victory bumped their record up to 12-17. As for Freedom, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.
