The Wellsville Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Trinity Christian Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Wellsville won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were dealt a 65-29 loss at the hands of David Anderson. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Wellsville has scored all season.
After soaring to a 56-point win in their last game, Trinity Christian came back down to earth on Saturday. They fell just short of Grafton by a score of 64-61. While losing is never fun, Trinity Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 327th, while the Bearcats are ranked 48th).
Despite their defeat, Trinity Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Chayce Adams, who scored 24 points, was perhaps the best of all. Adams has been hot recently, having posted 21 or more points the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Carter Hartsock, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Trinity Christian struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Wellsville's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Trinity Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Wellsville against the Warriors when the teams last played back in February of 2017 as the squad secured a 72-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wellsville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
