Orange has gone 9-1 against Cedar Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fighting Red Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Orange has given up an average of 6.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Orange is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Wakefield on Wednesday. They came up short against the Wolverines, falling 12-1.
Orange saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Carden, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Cedar Ridge waltzed into their game on Monday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Rockets a 10-0 shutout. The Fighting Red Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
Charlotte Lowry made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Lowry was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mia Best, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Kimber Shambley was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Cedar Ridge hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.
Cedar Ridge's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Orange, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Orange hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Cedar Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.9 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Orange suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Cedar Ridge when the teams last played back in March. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
