The St. Mary's Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Hooper Bay 71-32. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. Mary's in their matchups with Hooper Bay: they've now lost nine in a row.
Hooper Bay was led to victory by Ariana Tall-Lake and Ernie Joe. Tall-Lake scored 16 points, while Joe scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Iyana Andreanoff, who scored ten points.
St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Hooper Bay, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
St. Mary's does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Hooper Bay will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Unalakleet at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th.
