The Newberry Bulldogs had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.4 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They really took it to Mid-Carolina for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-39 win on the road. That's another feather in the cap for Newberry, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Several Rebels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaden Myers, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jacob Clark, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Newberry is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. As for Mid-Carolina, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-12.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Abbeville the next time they take the court. Mid-Carolina will host Abbeville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Newberry will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
