Baseball Game Preview: Douglas Bulldogs vs. Cholla Chargers

For the second straight game, Douglas will face off against Cholla. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Chargers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Douglas is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Douglas came out on top against Cholla on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run seventh inning. The Bulldogs walked away with a 7-2 win over the Chargers.

Jose Ivan Higuera was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Andres Ortiz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Abel Clinch was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Douglas' victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-8-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Cholla, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.

Both Douglas and Cholla just can't seem to miss. The Bulldogs have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Cholla struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.9 hits.
