Hudson and Central are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. The Hudson Cobras will head out on the road to square off against the Central Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hudson has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Hudson is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against River Ridge on Tuesday. They came up short against the Royal Knights, falling 11-2.
Hudson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Tysko, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Central and Weeki Wachee had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Central was the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Weeki Wachee on Tuesday. With that victory, the Bears brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Ryan Engley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Central is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Jayden Warren was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February of 2024. Leland Blosser also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Weeki Wachee only posted a batting average of .179.
The win got Central back to even at 4-4. As for Hudson, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Hudson's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's contest. Hudson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Central, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Hudson continue to outrun the ball?
Hudson might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Hudson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
