Bountiful has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Box Elder Bees at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Bountiful stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Woods Cross as Bountiful made off with a 74-53 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Bountiful has posted since December 1, 2023.
Taylor Harvey and Milika Satuala were among the main playmakers for Bountiful as the former scored 24 points along with six rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Satuala has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Adelaide Stevenson, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Box Elder entered their tilt with Roy with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Box Elder took down Roy 43-27 on Wednesday. Given Box Elder's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Roy is ranked 92nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kaydence Barber continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamri Andersen, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Bountiful's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Box Elder, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Bountiful have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Box Elder struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Bountiful took their victory against Box Elder when the teams last played on January 3rd by a conclusive 69-46. With Bountiful ahead 42-20 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
