Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Buena

Buena had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Walden Grove Red Wolves. The Colts have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Red Wolves, too.

Angel Olivarez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Bryson Haymore was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Austin Cushman was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Buena was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walden Grove only posted a batting average of .296.

Buena's record now sits at 6-2. As for Walden Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Coming up, Buena will be taking part in a tournament against Canyon del Oro at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Buena is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season. As for Walden Grove, they have already played their next game, an 8-2 victory against Coconino on the 12th.
