After flying high against the Mooseheart Red Ramblers last Monday, the College Prep of America Thunder came back down to earth. College Prep of America fell just short of Shepard by a score of 62-60. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for College Prep of America in their matchups with Shepard: they've now lost five in a row.
College Prep of America's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ibrahim Elagha, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Hamzah Shouman was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
College Prep of America's loss dropped their record down to 12-16. As for Shepard, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-20.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. College Prep of America will square off against Montini Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Shepard, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Evergreen Park at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. One thing working in Evergreen Park's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests.
