5A Region III District 23 recap October 8, 2013
Fort Bend Bush's Ronald Monroe rumbled for the longest rushing play in 5A Region III District 23 this season in his game against Fort Bend Travis last week. Monroe ran for 77 yards on the play and finished with 110 on the day as his team bested the Tigers.
Fort Bend Dulles moved up to 372 from 438 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Vikings climbed the ranks as a result of beating Fort Bend Clements 47-27.
Fort Bend Bush's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Broncos feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Monroe has thrown for 1,174 yards and 20 touchdowns this season, while Kasey Poole has 17 catches for 449 yards. Monroe also leads the league in rushing with 326 yards.
An important game coming up in 5A Region III District 23 this week will be when Fort Bend Dulles takes on Fort Bend Elkins. As it stands, Jim Creech's team is in fourth, while the Knights are in second.
Fort Bend Bush added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Fort Bend Travis, 42-26. The victory was the fifth in a row for Allen Aldridge's team.
