4A Foothills recap October 29, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Palmer Ridge, who took down 62nd ranked Canon City, 34-28. Blaine Wycoff threw for 454 yards and 4 touchdowns in the win.
Fans got a thrill when Wycoff and Danny Baumgardt connected against the Tigers. The connection was good for 58 yards, the longest such play in 4A Foothills this season.
The Bears' dynamic duo of Wycoff and Baumgardt proved to be unstoppable against Canon City, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Thorin Wang helped Palmer Ridge's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 96 yards.
David Ruminski made the biggest impact on defense this week as Cheyenne Mountain fell to Widefield. The 6-foot-1 defensive lineman recorded 1 fumble.
DQ Baker was a beast in the backfield as the Gladiators bested the Indians.
Pueblo South's Nathan Spinuzzi and Devin Valdez led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Spinuzzi has thrown for 1,772 yards this season, while Valdez has 34 catches for 678 yards. Pueblo Centennial's Quincy Kindred leads the league in rushing yards with 1,612.
The Colts' Garrett Krage is a mere 23 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 179 carries Krage has put up 977 yards this year.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Palmer Ridge takes on the Bulldogs. Tom Pulford's team is in fifth place, while Pueblo Centennial is in second place.
Caleb Miranda of Mike Palumbo's team ran for the longest rushing play in 4A Foothills this season against Mesa Ridge last week. Miranda's team beat the Grizzlies as he sprinted for 91 yards on the play and finished with 132 in all.
