There's no place like home for the Jarrell Cougars, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past Lampasas 66-37 at home. With that win, Jarrell brought their scoring average up to 50.3 points per game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jarrell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aniya Taylor, who scored 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Taylor has scored at least a third of Jarrell's points. Jasmine Benavidez was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Jarrell pushed their record up to 18-11 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Lampasas, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-21.
Jarrell will be playing in front of their home fans against Marble Falls at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lampasas, they will head out on the road to face off against Lago Vista at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Lago Vista has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28.
