The Alexander Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Del Rio Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alexander will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Last Friday, Alexander strolled past United South with points to spare, taking the game 21-7.
It was another big night for Gael Rodriguez, who rushed for 237 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per carry. Rodriguez's longest rush was for an incredible 88 yards.
Meanwhile, Del Rio was beaten by United 45-14 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Del Rio can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 741st, while United is ranked 359th).
Despite the loss, Del Rio saw an underclassman step up: Fermin Rodriguez rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown.
Alexander is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Del Rio, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Alexander has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 389.9 total yards per game. It's a different story for Del Rio, though, as they've been averaging only 248 per game. Will Alexander be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will Del Rio flip the ?
Alexander might still be hurting after the 34-13 loss they got from Del Rio when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Alexander avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
