Softball Recap: Mountainside Wins Going Away Against Westview

Mountainside won the last time they faced Westview and things went their way on Monday too. The Mavericks blew past the Wildcats 7-1. The result was nothing new for the Mavericks, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jojo Appling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ainsley Arbow, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Libby Wilson, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Mountainside and bumps their season record up to 11-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Westview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.

Mountainside wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Jesuit on the 7th. As for Westview, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-3 loss against Aloha on the 7th.
