The Berlin Redcoats had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top against Enfield by a score of 27-20. 27 seems to be a good number for Berlin as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Berlin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyle Melville led the charge by picking up 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Toby Lavender, who gained 147 total yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Enfield still got an impressive performance from Zach Bonini, who rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 43 yards and a touchdown.
Berlin's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-6 Wethersfield and 1-5 Simsbury (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 32.2% over those games). As for Enfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-1.
Berlin will head out on the road to face off against Manchester at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Enfield, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Windsor at 7:00 p.m.
