The Alpine Bucks and the Idalou Wildcats squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Alpine Bucks had to settle for second. Alpine was dealt a 64-18 loss at the hands of Idalou. While losing is never fun, Alpine can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 918th, while Idalou is ranked 413th).
When it comes to explaining why Alpine lost, one person who can't be blamed is Logan Smith. Despite the final result, he rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown.
Alpine's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Idalou, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.
Alpine does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Idalou will be playing in front of their home fans against Canadian at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Canadian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Idalou likes a good challenge.
