After a string of five wins, the Crystal City Javelinas's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 47-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hondo. If Crystal City hoped to take revenge for the 47-38 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Crystal City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lyndsie Bosquez, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Bosquez hasn't dropped below 15points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Riyannah Mena, who scored 13 points.
Crystal City's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-13. As for Hondo, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crystal City will take on Cotulla at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cotulla has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 8. As for Hondo, they will be playing at home against Lytle at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Lytle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday.
