Lilly Fultz was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 20 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Gulf Coast's points. Alex Mcdonough was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 5 rebounds.
Lashawnda Dareus and Maggie Poling certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Dareus scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals, while Poling scored 8 points. Dareus scored a full 26.7% of Lely's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Gulf Coast and bumps their season record up to 2-1. As for Lely, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gulf Coast will face off against Palmetto Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Palmetto Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday. As for Lely, they will head out on the road to face off against Naples at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Naples is ranked 62nd, while Lely is ranked 44th).
