Division I recap November 13, 2013
Barrington extended the longest winning streak in Division I this week by beating Bishop Hendricken, 7-0. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.
Portsmouth led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on East Providence. Travis O'Brien ran for 269 yards during the win.
O'Brien was a force in the backfield as the Patriots beat the Townies.
O'Brien was a passing and rushing force as Portsmouth defeated East Providence.
O'Brien was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 269 yards on 17 carries as Ryan Moniz's team bested La Salle Academy. Matthew Sewall also contributed to the rushing game with 187 yards on the ground.
Leading Division I in both passing and receiving yards, the Thunderbolts' ALEX CORVESE and BEAUVAIS have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback CORVESE has thrown for 2,114 yards this season, while BEAUVAIS has 48 catches for 904 yards. Sewall from the Patriots leads the league in rushing with 1,459 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between Portsmouth and Barrington. The Patriots enters the contest ranked third in the state, while Bill Mccagney's team ranks first.
BEAUVAIS of the Cranston East's is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 96 receiving yards in this week's game against South Kingstown to get there. So far this year, he has acheived 48 catches for 904 yards.
