The Lowndes Vikings were the 66-47 winner over the Valdosta Wildcats when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lowndes fell 65-56 to Valdosta on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Lowndes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while Valdosta is ranked 53rd).
Lowndes lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kam Jackson, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Keshawn Arthur, who scored 12 points.
Lowndes struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Valdosta racked up 13 assists.
Valdosta's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jabarri Williams, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Love, who scored 19 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Lowndes and nudges their season record down to 5-8. As for Valdosta, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
Lowndes will be playing at home against Colquitt County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Colquitt County is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Valdosta, they will take on Lee County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Lee County is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
