D'Evelyn is 8-2 against Standley Lake since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. D'Evelyn will look to defend their home field against Standley Lake at 4:00 p.m. D'Evelyn is looking for their season's first win.
D'Evelyn's tournament run continued when they took on Shady Side Academy on Tuesday. D'Evelyn might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-5 to Shady Side Academy, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Thomas Sweetman put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Kevyn Feldon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Standley Lake, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Westminster 10-9 last Thursday. With that victory, the Gators brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.
Like D'Evelyn, Standley Lake also got a great game from a two-way player: Marc Garcia. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Garcia a new career-low. He was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Eric Baumer was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Rose, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Standley Lake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.
Standley Lake pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for D'Evelyn, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
D'Evelyn came out on top in a nail-biter against Standley Lake when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Does D'Evelyn have another victory up their sleeve, or will Standley Lake turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
