The Savannah Christian Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Liberty County Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Savannah Christian got themselves on the board against Groves, but Groves never followed suit. They breezed by the Rebels at home to the tune of 56-0. The victory was nothing new for Savannah Christian as they're now sitting on four straight.
It was another big night for Zo Smalls, who rushed for 86 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also picked up 52 receiving yards. Kenry Wall also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Savannah Christian's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB seven times. Leading the way was Elijah Griffin and his four sacks.
Meanwhile, Liberty County put the finishing touches on their third blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on Beach with a sharp 43-21 victory. Liberty County pushed the score to 40-14 by the end of the third, a deficit Beach cut but never quite recovered from.
Carlos Keverene singleton was a one-man wrecking crew for Liberty County as he threw for 253 yards and four touchdowns, and also rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Ron Golden was another key contributor, picking up 82 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Savannah Christian to 7-2 and Liberty County to 3-6.
Everything came up roses for Savannah Christian against Liberty County in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 40-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Savannah Christian since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
