Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Herron's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Herron won the last time they faced Central Christian Academy, and Taylor Cotham did her part to make sure it happened again. Everything went the Herron Achaeans' way against the Central Christian Academy Chargers on Friday as the Herron Achaeans made off with a 52-30 win thanks in part to Cotham, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. Her afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Another player making a difference was Kallyn Vincent, who posted seven points and three steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Despite the loss, Central Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman Olivia Mattingly dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 43.3% of Central Christian Academy's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Herron has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Central Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Herron wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-27 loss against Indianapolis HomeSchool Wildcats on the 28th. As for Central Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-20 defeat against Indianapolis Lutheran on the 28th.
