This season hasn't been kind to The Belleview Rattlers, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were dealt a 45-0 defeat at the hands of Newberry on Friday. While losing is never fun, Belleview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 478th, while Newberry is ranked 84th).
Newberry's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chaden Scott, who rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Another player making a difference was Keil Mcgriff, who threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes.
Belleview's loss was their fourth straight at home , which bumped their record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Leesburg and 6-4 The First Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 70% over those games). As for Newberry, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Belleview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Newberry will be playing in front of their home fans against Chiefland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
