After a string of four wins, the Sahuaro Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 68-49 to Salpointe Catholic. Sahuaro has struggled against the Lancers recently, as their match on Wednesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Loss or not, Sahuaro got some senior leadership from Cassandra Coolidge and Ny'Anza Brown. Coolidge scored 17 points along with two steals, while Brown. scored 11 points. Biale Sika was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.
Salpointe Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Watts, who scored 14 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Taliyah Henderson, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Sahuaro's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 20-8. As for Salpointe Catholic, they pushed their record up to 20-3 with that victory, which was their 11th straight on the road.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Mica Mountain the next time they take the court. Salpointe Catholic will host Mica Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Sahuaro will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
