Softball Game Preview: Fairless Falcons vs. Tuscarawas Valley Trojans

Fairless is a perfect 4-0 against Tuscarawas Valley since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Falcons will face off against the Trojans at 5:00 p.m.

Fairless fell victim to Manchester and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 6-0. The Falcons haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, Tuscarawas Valley strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Claymont. While the Trojans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Brennen Reichman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on zero hits and racked up 18 Ks. Those 18 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Arieana Wade was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Hailee Rotunno also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Wade wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Tuscarawas Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Tuscarawas Valley's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Fairless, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything went Fairless' way against Tuscarawas Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2016, as Fairless made off with a 14-4 win. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
